Marcel is a new restaurant inside Sotheby’s headquarters at 945 Madison Avenue, in the iconic Breuer building (the restaurant is named for Marcel Breuer, who designed the building in 1966), former home of the Whitney Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Frick Collection. Sarabeth’s formerly operated the café there. Sotheby’s took over the building in 2024 and has partnered with the design team of Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman and Williams, who own La Mercerie at 53 Howard Street. Included among their other design projects are Le Coucou, Upland, Lafayette, and The Dutch. Chef-partner Marie-Aude Rose designed a continental menu with a French emphasis.
